the Fukushima nuclear accident and the spread of corona infection were shocking, along with the damage caused by conflicts and disasters, and environmental issues. these issues intertwined in masako imaoka’s mind in a complementary way. In creating the photographs, she took time to carefully interpret and evoke the images. the life that we are given should exist with a rare probability, but there is a side to it that is drowned out by everyday life and forgotten. if people are one of the factors in the collapse of society, it can be said that we are in danger of being purified by the earth’s eco-system. is it just an idealistic idea to protect the life we have been given on earth in a solidarity manner.
