creating, collecting and connecting dots in tsurumi
MAKE THE CITY TALK
dots (circles) represent the notions of unity, integration, wholeness, they give us a sense of completion, confidence, and harmony. they have no beginning and no end.
connecting dots in tsurumi is a city branding project with the local community of the port city of tsurumi, a part of yokohama city.
to begin an open conversation within the community we asked tsurumi citizens to write messages into pink dots. the messages where later displayed publicly to start the conversation say hello to your nighbour, ask him/her how he/she is doing etc
messages where displayed around tsurumi ono station, inviting people to share thoughts and wishes.
the mounting of the boards was a group effort, the community helped to adding the pink dots in their neighbourhood.
the color hot pink hue is packed with energy and doesn’t go unnoticed. it is provocative and bold, always making a statement. hot pink is youthful, vibrant, and electric.
workshops at tsurumi elemtary school where held, an exhibition at tsurumi ward office and finally a festival marked the end of the first step of the weTrees tsurumi community project.
